🤠 Howdy -

Nashville is primed for one crazy weekend of snow. The grocery stores are hectic and getting wiped out. School is being canceled and people are working from home. Hopefully, it will live up to the hype and we will have one great weekend of hot chocolate and bourbon ahead of us, or whatever floats your boat.

With this snow ahead of us, I wanted to dig into some of the craziest winter events of Nashville’s past. One of these is The Nashville Ice Storm of 1951, also known as the “Great Blizzard.” Businesses were shut down and millions of dollars in damage was done to transportation and communication systems.

The storm of November 1966 left up to 12 inches of snow in the area. Pictured below are students escaping before they get trapped by the storm.

Nashville’s largest snowfall was in 1891, and surprisingly was in March. This snowfall was a whopping 17 inches. I could not imagine the damage that would do if it hit the city today.
