Not everything on 12 South is changing for the worse. Tucked onto the patio of Whites Mercantile on 12th Avenue South, Brisa is exactly the kind of small, locally owned business that gives you hope for what the neighborhood can still be. It's a coffee and matcha cart, open Friday through Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM, serving organic coffee, housemade syrups, and local milk with a bomb rotating seasonal menu. The seasonal lattes are where Brisa really shines, and they nail it every single time. The Blackberry Cobbler Latte made with local blackberry jam is the kind of drink that makes you stop and actually pay attention to what's in your cup.

One very specific request that needs to happen: sell the cold foam to go. Maybe they have, and I just missed it.

In a neighborhood that keeps losing its independent spots to national retailers and hotel brands, Brisa is a small but meaningful reminder of what 12 South is supposed to feel like. Go on a weekend morning, order something seasonal, and spend a few dollars with a local business that's doing things the right way.
