There are restaurants in Nashville that get written about constantly and restaurants that quietly earn a devoted following without ever making a single best-of list. Chile Burrito is firmly in the second category, and honestly, that's a little baffling. With locations in downtown Nashville on 4th Avenue and on Franklin Road in Brentwood, this place has been putting out fresh, generous, affordable Mexican-inspired food that punches well above what most people expect to find at a casual lunch spot. It just doesn't get the credit it deserves, and this is us trying to fix that.

The menu covers all the right bases: burritos, tacos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, fish tacos, and more, all made with fresh ingredients and priced in a way that feels almost too reasonable for what you're getting. The whole setup is comfortable and unpretentious, the kind of spot that's just as good for a quick solo lunch as it is for a group. What really sets Chile Burrito apart, though, is the sauce situation, which deserves its own conversation entirely.

The salsa bar lets you load up to-go containers with whatever you want to take back to your table, and then there's a fridge stocked with bottled sauces including a jalapeño crema, a chipotle crema, and a BBQ sauce that works surprisingly well on just about everything. It sounds like a small detail but it's the kind of thing that elevates the whole meal and keeps people coming back. Good food with great sauces is a combination that's hard to argue with, and Chile Burrito nails it every time.

Here's hoping someone at Chile Burrito is paying attention, because Nashville needs another one of these in a different neighborhood. Germantown, East Nashville, 12 South, honestly, anywhere would do. The concept travels well, and the city would be better for it. If you haven't been, there's no good reason to wait any longer.

🔎 Last Eaten Review: 15 Inch Chicken Burrito

The 15-inch chicken burrito is not a subtle meal. It arrives looking like a commitment and it absolutely delivers on the promise. The chicken was well-seasoned and fresh, the burrito packed and proportioned right all the way through without falling apart or going dry in the middle, which is harder to pull off than it sounds. The real move is loading it up with everything from the salsa bar and hitting it with the jalapeño crema and chipotle crema from the fridge. Both sauces are genuinely good and they take an already great burrito to a different level. At the size and price point Chile Burrito is offering this thing at, it's one of the best deals in Nashville right now, full stop.
