Common Ground in Berry Hill is one of those spots that gets it right in a way that's hard to put into words. It describes itself as the quintessential neighborhood spot everyone wishes was down the street from their house, and honestly that's pretty accurate. Clean, comfortable, and serving quality food and cocktails all day long.

The menu is more creative than you'd expect from a neighborhood bar. Starters like the Watermelon Carpaccio with prosciutto and hot honey gives you a sense that this kitchen isn’t phoning it in. The smashburger has become the most popular order in the place and after seeing what goes into it, seasoned patties, American cheese, melted onion, house pickle, and CG sauce on a local bun, that doesn't surprise us at all.

The cocktail program here is a real highlight and worth paying attention to. The full cocktail menu is creative and well built, but the espresso martini flight is something intriguing. Their happy hour, Common Hour, runs from 3 to 6 PM Monday through Friday with $10 cocktails and $5 bites, so there's always a good reason to stop in after work.

Berry Hill as a neighborhood continues to quietly build out a really solid food and drink scene and Common Ground fits right in. Good food, good drinks, clean space, easy vibe. It checked every box for lunch and the dinner menu makes me want to come back soon.

πŸ”Ž Last Eaten Review: Focaccia Plate

This thing was a problem, and I mean that in the best way possible. The focaccia itself was some of the best bread I've had in a while, the kind that makes you wonder why all bread can't just be this good. But honestly, the whipped boursin is what got me. Creamy, herby, and completely addicting in a way that made it very hard to stop. The maple butter and seasonal jam both followed suit and held their own alongside it. It's a $16 starter that sounds simple on paper and absolutely overdelivers. Order it immediately and don't feel bad about finishing all of it.
