🍽️ Restaurant Run of the Week: Federales
Tacos, tequila, and an ice shot you'll be talking about all week..

🤠 Howdy, Nashville. This is The Nashville Grapevine, the newsletter that brings you (almost) all things Nashville.
Let’s get into it.

The Nashville Grapevine is 100% free and independently owned and operated. Your contributions go toward keeping us going so we can keep supplying you with the good eats and events. I appreciate any and all support!
The Gulch has no shortage of places to grab a drink, but Federales on Division Street has carved out its own lane in a hurry. Open since spring 2025, this taco and tequila bar brings a high-energy, open-air atmosphere to one of Nashville's most walkable neighborhoods, and it's quickly become one of the more fun nights out the city has to offer right now.
The setup is hard not to love. There's a retractable roof, a buzzing indoor-outdoor patio, DJs on select nights, and a crowd that's always ready for a good time. It skews festive (this is a go-to for bachelorette parties and birthday groups), but don't let that scare off the locals. The food is genuinely solid, with beer-battered cod tacos, smoked chicken enchiladas, crispy Brussels sprouts, and steak tacos that keep regulars coming back.
The Move: Happy Hour
Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6 PM and Friday from 3 to 6 PM, Federales offers one of the better happy-hour deals in The Gulch. We're talking $9 margaritas, $8 select shots, $20 beer buckets, and food specials like $9 taquitos, $8 queso blanco, and $9 guacamole. It's the kind of lineup that makes it very easy to stay longer than you planned, which is sort of the whole point.
The Ice Shot: Don't Skip It
Here's the thing that makes Federales genuinely memorable: the signature ice shots. You take your shot out of a frozen cup, and then you throw it across the patio to try to ring a bell on the wall. It's part tradition, part spectacle, and completely ridiculous in the best way. Whether you nail it or not, the whole bar reacts. It's one of those only-in-Nashville moments that you won't find anywhere else, and honestly, reason enough to go at least once.

🔎 Last Eaten Review: Chipotle Chicken Grande Nachos
The Chipotle Chicken Grande Nachos are the kind of plate that arrives at the table and makes everyone nearby wish they'd ordered the same thing. These are not skimpy nachos. The chips were thick and crunchy all the way through, no soggy bottoms, no sad, bare chips hiding at the bottom of the pile, and they were buried under chipotle chicken, chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, guacamole, pickled jalapeños, black beans, sour cream, cotija, cheddar, chihuahua cheese, nacho cheese, and cilantro. That's not a nacho, that's a commitment. Whether you're splitting them at happy hour or making them your whole meal, they hold up.
They were so good, I forgot to take a picture.
