🍽️ Restaurant Run of the Week: Kayne Prime

Is the best steak in Nashville sitting in The Gulch..?

In partnership with

🤠 Howdy, Nashville. This is The Nashville Grapevine, the newsletter that brings you (almost) all things Nashville.

Let’s get into it.

The Nashville Grapevine is 100% free and independently owned and operated. Your contributions go toward keeping us going so we can keep supplying you with the good eats and events. I appreciate any and all support!

If you’ve been following along, you already know we’re big fans of the M Street group. But Kayne Prime is the crown jewel of that whole operation and honestly one of the best restaurants in Nashville full stop. Sitting in The Gulch, this is Nashville’s boutique steakhouse, and it has been setting the standard for upscale dining in this city for years. The room is rustic modern done really well, with wood and rich leathers and reclaimed railroad ties on the walls.

Before the food even really gets started, they bring out complimentary puff pastry, and honestly it might have been one of the best things on the table all night. Warm, flaky, and completely free. It’s the kind of small touch that tells you immediately this kitchen cares about the full experience.

The sides at Kayne Prime deserve their own conversation. These are not afterthought sides thrown on the menu to fill space. The risotto tater tots are as fun as they sound and genuinely delicious, and the crème brûlée creamed corn has developed a cult following in Nashville for good reason. It’s one of those dishes you keep going back to between bites of steak without even realizing it. As for the steaks, any cut on that menu is going to hold up. We ordered blue cheese butter on the side, and it was the right call, adding a rich sharpness that paired perfectly with every bite. The best steak I’ve had in Nashville, and it’s not a close race.

Make a reservation, dress the part, and bring someone worth sharing a great meal with. Kayne Prime is a special occasion restaurant, but the experience is so good it makes you want to find more special occasions just so you have a reason to go back.

🔎 Last Eaten Review: Popcorn Buttered Lobster

This is one of the most unique appetizers I’ve come across in Nashville and it absolutely delivers. Six bites of buttered lobster finished with popcorn, and the combination sounds almost too playful for a steakhouse of this caliber until you actually try it. The popcorn crunch against the smooth, rich lobster is a textural pairing that just works on every level. It’s indulgent, fun, and a little unexpected in the best possible way. A great one to share with a group and it sets the tone for the whole meal perfectly. Start here and you’ll already know the rest of the night is going to be great.
