🍽️ Restaurant Run of the Week: Marsh House

The Gulch's best-kept secret for oysters and a seriously good wine list..

If you've been sleeping on Marsh House, it's time to wake up. Tucked inside the Thompson Hotel on 11th Avenue South in The Gulch, this place has been quietly doing some of the most refined Southern seafood in Nashville since 2016, and it doesn't get nearly enough credit from people who live here.

The vibe inside is mid-century modern done right: low lighting, warm tones, the kind of room that feels equally suited for a first date or a long dinner with old friends. There's also a patio for those perfect Nashville evenings when eating outside is basically mandatory. This is our go-to.

The menu is rooted in New Orleans tradition and Gulf Coast flavors, guided by Executive Chef Brack May and backed by an award-winning wine program curated by an in-house sommelier. That's not a combination you stumble into every day in this city. Expect freshly shucked oysters, seafood towers, seasonal ingredients, and the kind of thoughtful cooking that makes you slow down and actually pay attention to what's on your plate.

Marsh House is the kind of restaurant Nashville should be proud to have. For Happy Hour Oysters alone. Make a reservation, or just show up for happy hour and see where the evening takes you.

πŸ”Ž Last Eaten Review: Oysters during Happy Hour

Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 7 PM, Marsh House runs an oyster happy hour that is genuinely one of the better deals you'll find anywhere in Nashville right now. Freshly shucked, responsibly sourced, and served the way oysters should be: cold, clean, and with the right accompaniments. If you've never made it a habit to grab oysters on a weeknight, this is your sign. Come early, grab a spot at the bar, and let the sommelier point you toward a glass of wine that makes the whole thing feel like you're somewhere on the Gulf Coast and not, technically, a few blocks from Broadway.
