🍽️ Restaurant Run of the Week: Redheaded Stranger

A local Tex-Mex favorite in East Nashville..

🤠 Howdy, Nashville. This is The Nashville Grapevine, the newsletter that brings you (almost) all things Nashville.

Let’s get into it. (Stay tuned for a trivia question at the end)

Redheaded Stranger is the brainchild of chef Bryan Lee Weaver and is inspired by his Texas roots. He formerly was at Butcher & Bee, which is a little fancier but equally amazing Nashville staple. The name roots from a Willie Nelson album, and apparently, the restaurant has the stamp of approval from his family.

It is located in East Nashville and serves some of the best and most creative Tex-Mex around. It offers a green chile burger, crunch wraps, tacos, frito pies, and endless specials. The line is not the fastest in town, but it is worth the wait.

Don’t forget to grab a ranch water for a refreshing alcoholic drink, either!

🔎 Last Eaten Review: Smörgåsbord of food

We tried a little bit of everything: the burger, totchos, Frito pie, and an original crunch wrap. The burger has green chiles and a unique smoky flavor. The totchos are crisped to perfection, and the toppings are the cherry on top. The crunch wraps are fried in cheese and stuffed with everything you need. Last but not least, and possibly my favorite, was the Frito pie. Topped with Texas chili, the flavors on this were insane.

What year did "El Taco", the first Mexican restaurant in Nashville, open?
