This past week’s trivia went great. Six people got all five answers correct, so if you are one of those people, look out for an email from us with prize drawing information. This only went out to subscribers, so if you missed it, hit that subscribe button for future contests!
Question 4. Has a Nashville native ever become the president of a country?
This question stumped the most people with 45% of people getting it correct. The answer is actually yes, William Walker served as President of Nicaragua from 1856 to 1857.
But today, I want to talk about The Villager Tavern. It has been one of the premier dive bars in Nashville since 1973. It only spans around 1000 feet and half of the real estate is taken up with dart boards. The Tavern runs weekly dart leagues and was once ranked one of the best dart bars in the US.

This place is amazing to visit in its own right but I am here to talk about the food. The Villager Tavern has probably the best gumbo in Nashville. My go-to order is the half-roast beef sandwich with a cup of gumbo. This is worth a stop every time for a drink or dinner.
📍Location: Hillsboro Village
🍴Recommendation: Gumbo
⭐️ Highlight: Atmosphere
🔎 Last Eaten Review: Half Roast Beef with Gumbo
The roast beef po boy melts in your mouth and the gumbo hits the spot every single time. I like to order the half sandwich with a gumbo combo but be prepared, it is very filling so make sure to bring your appetite. If you order the gumbo by itself, it comes with bread: this is a great option if you don’t want as much food.
