Movie Night at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

FRIDAY

Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway will have a free family movie night on Friday, August 14, with festivities kicking off at 5 PM and Disney Pixar's Cars rolling on the big screen at 8. Free popcorn, food trucks, bounce houses, games, track chalk drawing, and speedway photo ops round out the night.

Watching Cars at an actual racetrack is the kind of detail that makes this one genuinely perfect for kids!

WOOFstock

SATURDAY

East Nashville's Baxter Bailey & Company transforms into a 70s-inspired pup paradise on Saturday, August 15 from 10 AM to 6 PM for WOOFstock; tie-dye décor, music all day, free themed dog treats, a WOOFstock Photo Booth, limited-edition bakery treats, groovy toys, and giveaways.

It's free and dog-friendly, which tells you everything you need to know!

Wilson County Tennessee State Fair

August 13-22

The Wilson County Tennessee State Fair, the Best 10 Days of the Year, is in Lebanon, themed "Tennessee Voices and Volunteers Celebrating America 250!" with rides, livestock shows, fair food, Fiddler's Grove, and entertainment across the full run. Admission is $14 for adults in advance, $5 for kids 6-12, with free parking and kids 5 and under always free.

It's 30 minutes from Nashville and somehow always worth the drive.. especially for the deep-fried cheeseburgers!

Watermelon Festival

SATURDAY

The Nashville Farmers Market throws its free annual Watermelon Festival on Saturday, August 15 from 10 AM to 2 PM, with live music from The Emerald Empire Band and Joey Wilbur, 21+ watermelon drinks, a kids' zone with Adventure Science Center, a puppy adoption truck from Nashville Humane Association, and vendors slinging everything from watermelon boba to watermelon sweet rolls. Free parking too.

Nashville loves a festival based around a fruit!

Neuhoff River Steps Concert

THURSDAY

The Neuhoff District's free River Steps Concert Series continues Wednesday, August 13 with Jessie Baylin taking the stage at 7 PM (gates at 6) along the Cumberland River, with food and drink on site as part of the Lightning 100-presented summer series. Baylin is one of Nashville's most quietly celebrated singer-songwriters, and catching her in a free outdoor setting along the water is the kind of night you'll tell people about.

I saw a post calling this Nashville’s “Red Rocks”, which is not true but high praise!
